Carden Fundraisers Information

Important Carden Information

First of all we want to thank all the volunteers that worked so hard this summer to renovate all the classrooms. Because of last year’s fund-raising we were able to fund new paint, carpet, flooring, cabinets and sinks in all the classes.

Carden Fund Raising Details

We have begun our first fund-raiser and we wanted to make sure that all the parents know what the schools plans are for the future.

For the last 2 years we have been saving money from all the Carden fund-raisers so that we could reach our goal of building a new office/cafeteria/library building in place of the current office building.

We realize that not everyone has the same views on fund-raising programs. But we are aiming to offer many different kinds of fund-raising opportunities to try and meet everyone’s needs. We cannot please everyone with one fund-raiser. So please feel free to participate in the programs that we are providing that suit your needs and families abilities. But know that all the money raised is going to a very good cause that will benefit all students at Carden.

Here are the planned the fund-raisers (details for each below)

  • Catalog and magazine sales (August)
  • Cookie dough sales (October)
  • Fall Carnival & basket sales (Nov 5th) – all proceeds from this event go back to the teachers and their classroom.
  • Yard sale and Chocolate bar sales (Jan)
  • Golf Tournament (April 28th)
  • Silent Auction (May) – moved to spread out events better

We are aiming for this summer to start building but it will all depend on the success of our fund-raising this year. So if we don’t meet our goals we will just work hard one more year and we are confident we will meet this goal by next summer.

New Building at Carden

The first step to working closer to construction of the new building at Carden is to meet with a commercial architect to design the new building and get plans drawn up. This has a big price tag, but is a necessary first step. So we always like to look to our Carden community of families first before we reach out. So if anyone works in this field or knows a good referral for this work we would be open to using them.

After we get the plans drawn up we will be able to take the plans to builders and get bids on the cost of the final project. Once we have this figure we will be able to know how close we are to our goal. And we will post that at the school and send information home for all to know.

We are excited about actively working towards this goal since it will help upgrade the school. We can apply for grants as well once we have this first step done. Anyone that would like to help in any of these steps is welcome to. Please just let Mrs. Jeppson know.

Thank you for your involvement in our school and keep up the good work!

Details on fund-raisers at Carden this year

Catalog and magazine sales (August 5th – August 22nd)- Delivery on Sept 22nd

  • The students have been given a catalogue to share with their families, friends, neighbors and co-workers. These catalogues include magazine sales which are nice if people you know already get magazines and want to re-new them for the school’s benefit. The catalogue has items that can make nice Christmas gifts.
  • The BMX bike show is a reward that the whole school and their parents are invited to attend.

Cookie Dough Sales (October 26th – November 9th) – Delivery before Thanksgiving

  • We have done the cookie dough sales before. It is a good fund-raiser for our small school.
  • Students can earn cash for meeting sales goals and an overall prize for the top seller (last year it was a DS)

Fall Carnival & Basket Sales (November 5th)- proceeds go back to the teachers and their classrooms

  • All Carden families are invited to attend this fun event. Before the event a list of ticket sales will be sent home.
  • You can pre-purchase tickets for your meal, games and booths or buy them at the door.
  • The teachers run the booths and there will be bingo games going on for the whole family. The winner of each bingo game will win a basket. It will cost to play bingo so money will be raised by the games and the baskets are donated to help raise money for this event.
  • The baskets are put together by room parents after collecting a donated item from each child in the class towards their class basket theme (arts & crafts, movie night, games and outdoor fun).

Yard Sale (January 28th)

  • Start gathering any useful items that you are going to get rid of for the annual Carden Yard Sale.
  • Families can bring items to the school anytime between now and January to be stored if needed.
  • Families can help advertise to family, friends and neighbors about the school collecting items for this sale. The more we get to sale the better.
  • This will be our third year doing the yard sale and it has been quite successful. We advertise in the paper and put up signs and we get a lot of business to sale all the donated items.

Chocolate Bar sales (January-February)

  • This will be our first year trying this out and they are sold for $1 or $2 and the school makes half of the sales.
  • They are easy to sale, because everyone likes chocolate and you don’t have to sale any or all of them.  Just try.

Golf Tournament (April 28th)

  • This is our most successful fund-raising event in monitory terms. Not everyone is involved in actually playing golf, but there are many ways for the Carden families to help this be a successful event.
  • Sponsor a hole for $100 (advertise), sponsor a golf team of 4 (yourself or find those that might want to participate), Donate prizes to be raffled off or auctioned off (services or retail)

Silent Auction (May)

  • This will be in conjunction with either the Dance Festival (May 5th) or the Spaghetti dinner (May 14th) this year.
  • All Carden families will have an opportunity to donate at least one item that will be auctioned off.
  • It can be a service, product, or item (from a business or from yourself handmade) *We will send out more details soon
