1 page sample volunteer form was made and distributed for member feedback. No changes were made and volunteer form will be e-mailed out to all Carden families. Forms will also be posted and handed out at the BBQ, following an announcement by Mrs. Jeppson. Paper copy of volunteer form will be sent home with lunch sign up on first day of school to all families.
The 2nd annual BBQ is scheduled for Sat. July 23. 1st BBQ last year was successful, around 100 people attended. 1st yr. BBQ chicken was served, this year it will be hamburgers and hotdogs along with pot luck dishes. Mr. Gardner will bring in a grill and help with the cooking. Set-up will begin at 5pm, Ms. Palmateer and the Lowe family volunteers to help set up, in addition, an e-mail will be sent out to families requesting help. 5 tables will be needed for food items. The rest of the tables and chairs from the shed will be used for families to sit. Mrs. Gurvine will do all of the shopping for all supplies and deliver all supplies to the school. Tables will be set up and covered. Crystyle will make announcements at the BBQ. Crystyle will be meeting with Mrs. Jeppson on Thursday July 21 to go over new families e-mails and ensure all new families receive notification of the BBQ. A family packet will be made and handed out at the BBQ. During the BBQ Mr. Claridge will be hosting a dance were families can learn dances and enjoy music. Mr. Ault is helping to organize this fundraiser. 1 time per month a local restaurant will offer a % back on sales to Carden. Goal is to start this fundraiser in September.
*Fall Carnival/Silent Auction – last year the Fall Carnival was done in a different location, it was decided to return the event to the Carden school for the current year. In past years each classroom collected items and put together gift baskets to be used for the silent auction, however, in recent year the baskets have not raised a lot of money. The money from the Carnival/Silent auction is used for the teacher and their classroom needs. The teachers also participate in the event running the game booths. Discussion occurred to review new silent auction ideas. An idea for a game night/Bingo was presented. Participants would pay a fee for a card to play the bingo game for the change to will a prize. The prize would be gift baskets made by the grades. Other ideas included: cake walk, trivia night, vendor prizes such as coupons. To make gift baskets an idea list could be made and given to all families.
