History test

Good afternoon parents,

Just wanted to let you all know that we will be having our first History test next Thursday, August 11. Your children will receive a study guide on Thursday, August 4 to work on. This gives them all a week to prepare.  Good luck guys.

TUTORING

I will be available after school on Mondays from 3:15-4:00pm to help the students if there is a need with any trouble they are having in class. Please note this service is only on a need basis. This is not to be used as an after-school program. If you feel that your child needs help, contact me at school to set up a schedule.

BOOK REPORTS

Each child needs to read five books (100 pages or more) each quarter. After reading the book, a book report needs to be filled out and turned in. Each report counts for 10 points towards the student’s reading grade. The book must be approved by me and I must see the child reading part of that book during quiet reading time in class. Students are allowed to take the book home to read, but I need to see them working on it in class also.

Homework Policy

It is very important that homework is turned in on time. Each assignment counts as five points towards the student’s final grade.  All homework must be neat with name on all assignments. Complete sentences must be given for all answers unless directed otherwise. If I cannot read the assignment or the homework doesn’t follow the criteria given, the student may be asked to re-do the assignment.  Each day the student will have an assignment sheet filled out with our schedule of that day. Please check it to make sure the homework is done. When the student finishes an assignment, the completed box should be checked off. You will need to sign the assignment sheet and it needs to come back to school the following day. This sheet counts towards being prepared for the day.

Back to School Post

We work very hard in the fifth grade and I expect a great deal from the children. They are polite, industrious and willing as well as capable.

Each child should have  a quiet place to do homework. Please see that your child has a quiet hour each day set aside to do, finish or study daily work.
