Good afternoon and happy Friday!
Our first week back from Fall Break has been short but busy. One of the traditions at Carden that I’ve been looking forward to most is the weekly openings presented by different classes. While each class begins the day with an opening every morning, during the 2nd and 4th quarters, we gather as a whole school on Fridays for a community-wide opening. This morning, our Middle School students led the first official Friday opening.
Carden Schools are known for their structured and nurturing approach to education, and the morning openings reflect this emphasis on discipline, focus, and community.
At Carden of Tucson, the morning opening includes:
-
Flag Salute and Patriotic Songs: Many Carden schools begin the day with a patriotic element, instilling a sense of pride, respect, and responsibility among students.
-
-
Recitations: The Carden method emphasizes memorization and oral skills. Students recite poems, maxims, or proverbs during the morning routine, building confidence in public speaking and reinforcing key lessons or values. Here at Carden, we recite the Declaration of Independence, our Peace Builders Pledge, the Three Carden Rules, and a weekly quote.
-
Activity: When it is their day to lead, each class presents an activity to the school community.
This structured start to the day reflects the Carden method’s holistic approach, balancing intellectual development with character building. It sets the tone for a focused, respectful, and engaged day of learning.
We hope you can join us each Friday for our whole-school openings during the 2nd and 4th quarters. Please check the calendar for specifics.
Have a wonderful weekend!
