There have been many challenges in life this year, and as I am currently going through another personal challenge, I have sat back for a little  soul searching about how I live my life.  There is a saying that was originally from a poem from Bessie Anderson Stanley in 1904.  Live, Laugh, and Love was originally written by Stanley in the form of an essay for a contest for the Brown Book magazine, asking those who entered to describe and define success. The Live, Laugh, Love , inspiration comes from the first line of the poem:

“He achieved success who has lived well, laughed often, and loved much; Who has enjoyed the trust of pure women, the respect of intelligent men and the love of little children; Who has filled his niche and accomplished his task; Who has never lacked appreciation of Earth's beauty or failed to express it; Who has left the world better than he found it, Whether an improved poppy, a perfect poem, or a rescued soul; Who has always looked for the best in others and given them the best he had; Whose life was an inspiration; Whose memory a benediction.”

This quote is still  appropriate in today’s world we live in. We may have more advances today, but it is still important to value others, leave the earth a better place, appreciate the natural beauty that is around us. We often forget the small things in our technological age.  Success is living well, treating others with respect and kindness, accepting each other’s unique differences, and being able to discuss differences without accusations. Success is loving each other and being able to forgive perceived wrongs against each other. Success is being able to laugh at ourselves and be able to admit to our mistakes.
