Hello Carden,

Congratulations on reaching the end of the year. Believe it or not, I found a new favorite restaurant. It is not fancy, but it is not expensive; actually, it is quite affordable. The name of the restaurant is Taco Giro. I don’t know if you’re familiar with the restaurants, but there are about four in Tucson and one in Sierra Vista. My favorite is on Craycroft, a little bit south of 22nd St.
I love this restaurant for the right reason, its food. They have great seafood dishes but my favorite dishes are “El Molcajete”, “Caldo de Pollo”, and the Giro Plate. The Giro Plate provides a variety of Mexican comfort food dishes and it is great when you’re really hungry and don’t know what to get. The “Molcajete” is a stone cooking device we use to make salsas and guacamole, but they use it to prepare a savory dish. They have a few options of the dish available. My favorite is “El Molcajete Mixto.” This plate has beef, chicken, chorizo, cactus, and cheese accompanied by your choice of tortilla and a side of beans and rice. Caldo de Pollo is Mexican chicken soup.
This is my favorite location and I take the drive even though it is not the location closest to me. I avoid carbs and few restaurants have sugar free drinks. This location though, will make me a sugar free lemonade and provides sugar free sweeteners. Try it, I think you’ll like it. You’ll find that they have great varieties of Mexican comfort foods and that they prepare them well. Furthermore, it won’t be a huge dent in your wallet.

Blessings, have a great summer!
David Magana
