We have a lot to look forward to this quarter. Here is a sneak-peak at some of what our class will be doing:
Literature
Bambi- This is a highly descriptive book that surprised me the first time I read it. I expected it to be basic and dull, but it is anything but. It is beautifully written, with rich vocabulary and complex sentences and will provide a wonderful model of writing for the children. In short- it is a masterpiece, and I urge parents to read the book along with our class. (Just don’t give any of the plot away if you get ahead of us!)
We will be answering critical thinking questions in a journal while we read. We will also be studying great writing tools such as: personification, similes, metaphors, and colorful language.
Writing
letters, proofreading and final draft of our play, opinion essay
Computers
graphing, typing, power point, short research projects
Reading
2 book reports (done as homework), comprehension with Motivation Reading and Scholastic News Magazine, process with Buckle Down
Science

Language

Each week I post the Arizona College and Career Ready Standards (formerly named Common Core) that is being taught. Feel free to pop in and take a look at what we are working on!
Warmly,
Mrs. Bennon
