Happy New Year Grade 2 Parents,
We are all eager to do our best in the New Year! This is the 3rd Quarter and we will
be studying many new concepts in reading, language, spelling, vocabulary, social studies, science, math, and penmanship (cursive).
Some of our special events: Studying birds for 8 weeks, followed up with the students writing a bird report, 3-D model required, and presentation. The report and 3-D model are due on March 2nd, the presentation will be March 6 at 8:45 a.m. I will be sending a list of requirements for the completed Bird Report. On January 22nd, Tohono Chul will be visiting our class and providing a lesson on Birds. On February 17th we will be going on a Field Trip to the Desert Museum for the Fine Feathered Friends Program. I will be sending a sign-up sheet and student permission slip closer to event date.
Valentines Day will be here soon! Our class will make special kindness Valentine cards for the Children at Casa de Los Ninos. No last names of our students will be revealed. Miss Quan will be providing special art supplies to make our Valentine Cards.
The Valentines Day Party will be held on February 13th, at 2:15 p.m. The students are welcome to bring in a Valentine for the 16 students. Class Names: Ella, Luke, Jayla, Arianna, Aiden, Maryana, Ariana, Abigail, Reagan, Deuce, Konnor, Gabrielle, Tristin, Hani, Kayla, and Jacob. As we get closer to event I will send a sign-up sheet for Special Valentine Treats 🙂
The 3rd Quarter Spelling List is posted on 2nd Grade Carden Blog. A gentle reminder, all students are responsible for turning in their daily reading log every Monday. The Reading Log may encourage our students to schedule time for reading and develop comprehension skills. Children enjoy reading to siblings and parents.
Our parents have great participation, we really appreciate your help. A few jobs that need volunteers are: Thoroughly cleaning the bathroom once a week ( sign up today #270-5655 ), donate clorox wipes, and small prizes for prize box.
Thank you for all your support,
Ms. Nichols
