Dear Carden Families,

As you have probably heard, one of our beloved 4th graders was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma this week. What you might not have heard is that one of our wonderful 3rd graders is currently battling cancer, in the form of Leukemia, as well. As we move forward with this school year, we would like to support these families during every step of their difficult journey.

We have created a form that will be shared with all families in the newsletter. Every time one of our community members purchases a gift for our two students who are “standing-up-to cancer”, we ask that you enter your purchase onto the document. This will help people know what has already been purchased, and will give ideas for the kinds of gifts that people are giving. We would love to see a steady stream of care packages heading towards these two families, so that these children, and their families, are constantly reminded that they have our continuous love and support.

Carden of Tucson is also declaring Thursdays, “Stand Up To Cancer” Thursday. Students are invited to purchase Stand Up To Cancer T-Shirts and wear them with their uniform bottoms every Thursday. The following website raises money for cancer research and offers the youth Angry Birds t-shirt design that Carden has chosen for Stand Up To Cancer Thursdays.

Our annual Pennies For Pasta will be benefitting both Lymphoma and Leukemia cancer research. Thank you for helping to make Carden a supportive and caring community!

Warmly,

Mrs. Bennon

"Complaining is habit-forming. It devitalized the atmosphere, is immature, and is never pleasant to the listener."
