Community Program Comes to Carden

 By Ella Anderson

There is a free community program called “Da’ Drops” coming to the first and second grade classes this month at Carden! Da’ Drops teaches the first and second grade kids about water conservation and Tucson aquifers. It helps reinforce knowledge of the water cycle and how to use water correctly. Dr. Faucet, the Da’ Drops representative, shows videos, does activities with the kids, and lets them chose to volunteer to help with hands-on demonstrations. The kids like being able to do the fun activities and see how water drains.

Da’ Drops has been coming to Carden for more than seven years. The  program is part of the Environmental Education Exchange, with support from Tucson Water. They like coming here because of the smaller classes, and feel it’s easier to teach the students at Carden. They also feel that the kids at Carden pay attention better. The first and second grade enjoy the activities and videos, and are glad that they can volunteer and learn in such a fun way.

6th Grade Community Outreach Project:

Please help the 6th grade class connect with the Tucson community and strive to make a positive impact. Donations and checks (made payable to Humane Society of Southern Arizona) will be accepted through September 8th, 2017. As part of the project, the sixth grade class will be teaching other classes how to make dog beds and cat condos for the animals in the shelter. As the end of the project, sixth grade will deliver donations, checks, dog beds and cat condos on a field trip to the Humane Society.

Dear Parents,

We would like to inform you of some changes beginning next week, August 21st. Mrs. Busiek will be switching her position as fourth grade teacher to special education teacher. Therefore, she will no longer be teaching fourth grade. We are in the process of interviewing for a new fourth grade teacher. In the meantime, Mrs. Jeppson will be teaching your children.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us with questions.
